Producers for the upcoming Notorious B.I.G. biopic, Notorious, are gearing up to hunt for an unknown to star. Starting this Sunday at 3 am EDT, hopefuls can submit audition videos to Fox Searchlight and Biggie Casting.
Producers briefly considered Oscar-winner Forest Whitaker for the role, but the actor is twice as old as Biggie was at his career’s height.
“As it relates to the individual Christopher Wallace — his looks, his stature, what he represented, the swagger, the sensibility of the man — all those elements are very difficult to find, no matter where you go,” said Big’s former manager Wayne Barrow.
A Biggie Smalls film has been in development for the past seven years. This should be interesting. Thankfully they aren’t teaming up with Puffy (Diddy, PDiddy, etc.) to do a reality show for the search. I hope they just keep it on the low, find someone and produce the movie. I think most of America is reality-showed out. But a Biggie flick could work.
