
The trailer for Mos Def’s new flick, Be Kind Rewind is out on the intertube. This looks like a winner. Starring Jack Black (School of Rock, King Kong), Danny Glover (Dreamgirls, Lethal Weapon), and directed by Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Dave Chappelle’s Block Party).
Be Kind Rewind is about a man (Black) whose brain becomes magnetized unintentionally destroys every tape in his friend’s (Def) video store. In order to satisfy the store’s most loyal renter, an aging woman with signs of dementia, the two men set out to remake the lost films, which include Back to the Future, The Lion King, Boyz in the Hood, and Robocop.
The release date is December 21, 2007 (limited). This is just the first in a series of New films that Mos has one his plate in the upcoming year. Others include Toussaint, Bobby Zero, Bury Me Standing, and the recently announced sequel to The Italian Job, The Brazilian Job.
