Sean-1
Sean Combs (aka Puffy) is set to star in the movie adaptation of Lorraine Hansberry’s play A Raisin in the Sun, which is now scheduled to air on ABC. Raisin will premiere as an “ABC Premiere Event” following the network’s broadcast of the 80th Annual Academy Awards on Monday, February 25, 2008 from 8-11pm.

The three-hour television movie version of A Raisin in the Sun is also executive produced by Combs and features the rapper/actor/mogul as the character Walter Lee Jr., a role originally played by Sidney Poitier. The dramatic play centers around a family struggling on the Southside of Chicago in the 1950’s awaiting a $10,000 life insurance check, which everyone is eager to spend.

The TV film also stars Sanaa Lathan, Phylicia Rashad, and John Stamos.

More to follow on this story. This doesn’t make a lick of sense, the air time that is. Everyone knows the Oscars lasts about 4 hours, and there is no way A Raisin in the Sun will air after it. Maybe the next day, but not directly after it. I’ll be sure to follow this story up with an update as soon as I find it.
