It seems like Flavor Flav can’t be stopped. He is starring in a new half-hour comedy series on MyNetworkTV, the network’s first (hmmm… And how long has it taken BET? 25+ years??).
The show is called Under One Roof and Flav plays Calvester Hill, a former convict who moves in with his wealthy, conservative brother, Walter (Kelly Perine). Calvester turns the Hill family’s life upside down, parading his old prison cronies through the house, teaching his nephew to be a gangsta rapper and butting heads with Walter’s snooty wife.
OK, I guess we’ll see if his past run-ins with the law will pay off. Flav’s other show, Flavor of Love premieres with its 3rd season this Monday at 9:00 pm on VH1.
HipHopDx.com has an exclusive story about two new TheBoondocks episodes that may never air on Adult Swim and may not even make it to the second season DVD release. They are reporting that an anonymous source close to the situation issued a statement exclusively to HipHopDX.com explaining that not one, but two episodes have been banned from airing. Here’s his statement as to what has transpired in recent weeks.
“It now appears official that TWO episodes of The Boondocks second season — clips of which surfaced on and then were pulled from Youtube — will not air. At all. Ever.
Fans who were waiting for the show to reach the levels of controversy that last year’s Peabody Award-winning “The Return of Martin Luther King” episode achieved will have to cross their fingers and hope that Sony execs don’t also pull the episodes from the second season DVD, which is slated for late spring.
The two episodes were originally scheduled to air on November 16 and December 17, respectively. No official reasons were given for the banning of the episodes from either Sony or Adult Swim as of yet. (more…)

The year 2008 looks to be a big year for hip hop in film. There are a number of films slated to come out and a slew of rappers with a lot of acting work. So we at filming hip hop have compiled a short list of our most anticipated films for 2008. The list includes films with either hip hop themes or hip hop actors/actresses with major roles in the film. Check out the list and tell us what you think.

Will Smith’s new summer (hit) film is Hancock, scheduled to be released July 2, 2008. The film, which went by the previous names Tonight, He Comes and John Hancock, has a brand new teaser trailer out. In Hancock, Will Smith plays a superhero named Hancock who’s fallen on hard times, and when he hires a PR exec (Jason Bateman) to correct his image, Hancock winds up falling for the his wife (Charlize Theron). Should be interesting flick and another smash for Will, following his string of big successes, including I Am Legend. The effects already look great and they still have a few more months to tighten everything up. What do you think about the trailer and the film’s concept?
Ludacris is co-starring in the upcoming film Fred Claus, a comedy starring Paul Giamatti as Santa Claus and Vince Vaughn as Santa’s brother, Fred.
In the film, Ludacris plays an elf DJ. Yup, an elf DJ, who spins music to help motivate the other toy-making elves at the North Pole.
Luda hasn’t had a lot of chances to play comedic roles in comedy films (outside of some of his music videos). I like to see rappers step outside of themselves and give us another perspective. A lot of times they are typecast and probably only go after roles that will ‘increase their street-cred’ (whatever that is). Shout out to Luda for trying something different.
Ludacris is currently filming the Guy Ritchie directed RocknRolla which stars Gerard Butler (300), Jeremy Piven (Entourage), and Thandie Newton (Crash). Be sure to check out Fred Clause when it hits theaters on November 9 (check the tralier after the break). (more…)
Allhiphop is reporting that Wu-Tang Clan member Method Man has joined the cast of Hunting and Fishing, a spoof of the hit movie 300. The movie is being produced by writing duo Jason Friedberg and Alan Seltzer, who have penned such spoofs as Date Movie,Epic Movie and Remembering the Titans On Any Given Sunday Gives Me The Varsity Blues.
Spoof flicks can be funny, atleast some parts of them are. Outside of some the original films like Airplane and Naked Gun, I can’t say that I’ve scene too many all out funny spoofs. But let’s see what comes of this. Hunting and Fishing is currently filming in Louisiana and will be released in 2008.
Well, it was inevitable. What would filminghiphop be without dropping an “All-time” favorites list? Huh?
So today’s list will comprise fhh’s Top 10 Hip Hop Themed Films. Our criteria for “hip hop themed film” is that, basically, the plot or main characters have to be involved in some type of facet or activity in the hip hop culture (i.e., rapping, b-boying, graffiti, or DJ’ing). So take a deep breath, peep the list and be sure to leave a comment. Perhaps we left something out?
