The theatrical trailer for American Gangster is up on Yahoo movies. The movie, due November 2, stars Denzel Washington and Russel Crowe and is directed by Ridley Scott (is it too early to start talking Oscar??). The film also stars hip hop emcees Common, RZA, and T.I.
American Gangster is about Frank Lucas (Washington), a real-life heroin kingpin from Manhattan who smuggled the drug into the country in the coffins of American soldiers returning from the Vietnam War. Crowe portrays Richie Roberts, a detective who brings down Lucas’s drug empire. Rounding out the star studded cast is Cuba Gooding Jr., Josh Brolin, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Idris Elba.
The trailer is pretty dope, especially to the backdrop of Jay-Z’s “Heart of the City (Ain’t No Love)”. It’s reported that the trailer will make its official theatrical debut in front of Ocean’s 13 on Friday, June 8.
